Review: Intrusion Protocol

A high-octane military scifi.

My Rating: 4/5 stars

This book had me gripped from the start and would not let go. I even ordered the sequel when I was just halfway through this book.

At its core, it's a military scifi following a maverick in the Autonomous Weapons Division, a section of the military which uses a blend of implants, AI programs, and a swarm of drones to defeat the alien threat.

I love how all the characters are unique, and the varied situations they find themselves in. The writing is clear, energetic, with a solid understanding of how the military would work in this setting.

I desperately want to give it 5 stars as I thoroughly enjoyed it and will get the third one in the series when it comes out. The only thing that frustrates me is understanding the setting. What is the Cradle? Why are they trapped there? What do the aliens even look like? There are hints, and I get the need to dripfeed information rather than dump it, but some core explanations really wouldn't go amiss.

That said, this is an awesome book and I highly recommend it.
